MISSED CONNECTION
When: Last Tuesday, around 9 PM
Where: Blue lane between Neon Han and Indira
You were running from a Sweeper checkpoint. Paper Saint jacket, red scarf, out of breath. You ducked into the alcove where I was waiting out a spike.
We didn't say anything. You caught your breath. I kept my head down. The Sweepers passed.
You left first. Looked back once. I should've said something.
You:
Late 20s, I think. Dark hair. Tired eyes. The kind of tired that doesn't go away with sleep.
Me:
Also tired. Also hiding. Also wondering if things could've been different.
I don't even know your name. But I've been walking that blue lane every night this week hoping you'd be there again.
If you see this, meet me at the same alcove. Thursday. 9 PM.
I'll bring coffee. The real kind, not the synthetic shit.
Maybe we can be tired together for a while.
